Building the Successful Firm

The formula seems so simple: bill more hours and make more money… but is it?  How should your firm structure its mix of partners and associates?  Which types of mandates should your firm pursue?  How can you improve your firm’s cashflow?  How do you help your lawyers grow from brilliant professionals into savvy business people?  What happens to a successful firm when the founding partners take a less active role?

Over 50 of the top 100 law firms in the UK use this session to teach business topics to their professionals.  Developed over several years, this simulation is regularly used as a strategic planning tool for executive committee members and a business and accounting primer for other partners and associates.

This interactive session engages your professionals in a highly charged competition to see who can build the most successful firm.  Six teams of 2 to 4 players recruit staff, find premises and compete for business. They decide which work to bid on, how to price it and how much to invest in infrastructure and business development.  Early on, players see which decisions position their firm for success and which prove costly.

Participants leave with a clear picture of how their firm runs and a personal action plan detailing what they can do to help build a stronger firm.
